As a nonprofit independent school, our one and only mission is to make Waldorf education available to as many children as possible. To that end, Berkshire Waldorf School – known as a thought leader in creating an intentionally diverse school community – offers three different forms of tuition assistance to our families. Only one form of assistance may be utilized per family.
Available for Early Childhood-Grade 8 Families paying published tuition rates with more than one child attending the school may request a 10% discount for the second and each subsequent child.
Requests for the sibling discount must be submitted by email each year by Feb. 1.
Sliding Scale Tuition
Available for Early Childhood-Grade 8 If a sibling discount is not enough support, we also offer a sliding scale discount for families whose adjusted gross income falls within the range of less than $30,000 to $110,000.
Here is a current chart of sliding scale rates for 2020-21.
To apply for sliding scale tuition, please email your request and the first two pages of your most recent federal tax form 1040 (2018 or 2019 accepted) with your tax ID number blacked out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Requests and tax forms for sliding scale tuition must be submitted by email each year by Feb. 1.
Available for families with a student in Grades 1-8 only We encourage elementary school families whose financial circumstances fall outside the sliding scale income range (less than $30,000 to $110,000 per year) to apply for tuition assistance. Berkshire Waldorf School uses a nationally recognized service, TADS, to process tuition support applications. TADS applies standardized criteria, including family income, assets, expenses and other circumstances such as family size, to determine to what extent each family needs support to pay for one year’s tuition. Over 50% of our families receive some form of tuition support. The Berkshire Waldorf School Tuition Assistance Committee uses information from the TADS process to allocate resources.
How to Apply
To apply for tuition assistance, please complete the required TADS forms (in the Financial Aid Assessment section of TADS.com) and submit all necessary documents directly to TADS, selecting Berkshire Waldorf School, by Feb. 1, 2020.
Each application is considered carefully by the Tuition Assistance Committee and aid is awarded based on need and availability of funds. Families will be notified via email of their award by Feb. 15. To secure your award, your agreement must be signed by March 1. Applications submitted after Feb.1 may not be eligible for award depending on availability of funds.
The TADS Financial Aid Worksheet (below) is designed to help you prepare and gather all you’ll need to complete the application. For assistance in submitting these materials, please contact the TADS parent help line at (800) 477-8237, between the hours of 9am-9pm Eastern Standard Time.
